3rd International Symposium on Animal Functional Genomics (ISAFG)
Link to OFFICIAL CONFERENCE WEBSITE
Dates:
April 7th – 9th 2008
Venue:
Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC), Morrison Street,
Edinburgh, UK
Highlights:
The 3rd International Symposium on Animal Functional Genomics (ISAFG)
will present opportunities to take stock of the current European and
International position in animal functional genomics, identifying areas
for collaborations and the development of new resources.
Increased exposure through the bringing together of two important conference
series:
1st European Farm Animal Functional Genomics Conference (ARK-Genomics)
and
2nd International Symposium on Animal Functional Genomics (Michigan State
University)
NEW:
Raised profile and higher delegate numbers through EBRC launch
event link-up
The ISAFG event will be run in parallel with the launch of the EBRC, a new world
class animal bioscience centre.
The EBRC is the provisional name for a new institute within the University of
Edinburgh. It will bring together researchers from the Roslin Institute, Neuropathogenesis
Unit, Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, the Scottish Agricultural College
and the Moredun Research Institute to create a critical mass of 450 scientists
and support staff working across a wide range of disciplines.
By 2010, EBRC will be based in a new £55M facility on the Easter Bush
campus of the University of Edinburgh veterinary school, forming one of the largest
groups worldwide with a focus on the biology of companion and production animals.
- Joint genomics session on Monday with an expected delegate number of 1000
- Events run in parallel thereafter
Themes:
The conference will be structured around the following themes, each with
invited speakers covering major topics in animal functional genomics:
“Genetics and QTLs”, “Bioinformatics and Data Mining”, “Animal
Health”, “Functional Genomics meets Physiology”, “Animal
Genomics in Industry”, “Proteomics”, “Systems Biology”
The keynote lecture will highlight functional genomics and its impact
on Systems Biology.
Additionally there will be 3 open sessions and a poster session. As before,
there will be plenty of opportunities for networking.
For registration, abstract submission please go to the official conference website.
Parallel Workshop Sessions:
Interactive sessions on relevant topics and applications. Examples
from the previous ARK-Genomics workshop in 2006 include: Reactome, Bioconductor,
GO annotation, Microarray normalisation, ArkDB
