• Assay 1 to 384 SNPs in essentially any number of individuals
• Cost effective platform using the Golden Gate SNP genotyping assay used in conjunction with the Bead Array Reader
• The key element of the BeadXpress System are digital holographic elements embedded in microcylinders -subsequently decoded by laser light

Illumina's allele-specific primer extension (ASPE) assay (1plex up to 48plex) is based on Universal Beads.

Main applications of the BeadXpress System include:

• Custom SNP Genotyping
• Custom Expression Profiling
• DNA methylation Profiling

Main advantages of the BeadXpress platform compared to the Bead Array reader include lower costs, especially at the 96 SNP/sample level: variable numbers of samples can be more easily assayed since the readout is not entirely dependent on maintaining samples in a 96 well format and that ASPE assays can be created for small numbers of SNPs.
