Microsatellites

The facility has microsatellite resources for genome scans for the following:

• Chicken 25cM interval covering 80% of genome
• Turkey 300 microsatellites arranged into 19 linkage groups.
• Cattle low resolution genome scan.
• Sheep specific chromosomes.

With the release of the chicken and cattle genome sequences there are also tools ARK-Genomics can utilize to search the sequence in specific target regions to identify specific repeat sequences and subsequently design primers to amplify them.
