Pilots
It is recommended before a major project begins that a pilot study is undertaken. This has a number of advantages:
- Costs.
- Parents can be tested with an existing panel of markers to give an estimate of informativeness of the population.
- When a SNP project is proposed, sequencing parents can validate SNPs selected.
- When a pilot has been performed, resulting data can be incorporated into grant applications in order to strengthen arguments for funding.
- A pilot also gives an indication of potential problems prior to the onset of the fullscale project.
The cost of pilot experiments will be determined upon receipt of the project proposal, along with turn around time.
