Microarrays
Microarrays
ARK-Genomics has been developing and producing a range of microarrays for farm
animal species since 2001. Investment of time and equipment has produced a
range of standard operating procedures for the production and hybridisation
of microarrays. These arrays and expertise are available for researchers.
Arrays are available for hybridisation and analysis within your own laboratory
or you may wish to use the procedures we have available. The centre provides
a laboratory hotel facility for you to learn from our established procedures
and transfer the skills to your laboratory.
Microarray Production
Standard and custom designed arrays are constructed using state-of-the-art
equipment.

RNA labelling
All RNA samples are quantified (NanoDrop®) and quality-checked (Agilent
bioanalyzer) within the laboratory.
Protocols for labelling RNA from large (20mg) to small (1x103 cells) samples
are available. Each label is QC checked through all stages of amplification
and dye coupling.
Hybridisation, scanning and image analysis
Hybridisation is carried out on automatic hybridisation stations to reduce
interarray variability. Slides are scanned as necessary to produce the
optimal images for scanning. The data is extracted from the images using
BlueFuse software to automate this highly variable step.
Data Analysis
Data is provided ready for analysis with your favourite statistical packages. Assistance with the experimental design and analysis is available upon request.
